How to stop wasting time and energy and have time to clean your flat in Kilkenny

Every owner of a flat or country house sooner or later gets tired of the endless duty of cleaning and rubbish removal. And then a simple question arises: how to shift cleaning to professional cleaners and start living a new life where you can spend all your free time relaxing or doing your personal business. This is the story of a housewife called Siobhán from Kilkenny, who recalls how she used to clean her flat before she met professional cleaners.

How Siobhán started cleaning her flat on a regular basis

Home cleaning secrets for you

Every day, starting early in the morning, I start my daily routine of cleaning the flat in my cosy little house in Kilkenny. Despite the fact that it requires a lot of effort and time, I always try to approach the task with enthusiasm, because a clean and tidy home is the key to a comfortable and pleasant life.

The first place I start is the kitchen, as I consider it to be the heart of the house. My kitchen is quite spacious, there is a lot of space for cooking, and of course I have to pay a lot of attention to it to keep it tidy. I usually start by putting away all the dishes that are left over from last night's dinner or this morning's breakfast. I have a dishwasher which makes the process much easier - I just load the dishes in, add detergent, special salt and rinse aid, choose a suitable programme and start. I use an eco-friendly detergent that effectively removes grease and dirt without leaving an odour on the dishes. While the dishwasher is doing its job, I start cleaning the work surfaces.

Cleaning the kitchen is very important and it is a responsible job

I use an all-purpose cleaner with a disinfectant effect to clean the worktops. It works well on all kinds of dirt, whether it's grease stains, oil drops or food stains. I try to use products with minimal chemicals to keep my family and the environment healthy. I wipe the worktops with a soft microfibre cloth that leaves no streaks or lint. I pay special attention to cleaning the hob - this is where most grease accumulates. I have a special product for the hob that can easily cope with soot and grease. I apply it to the surface of the hob, leave it on for a few minutes, and then gently wipe it off with a soft sponge.

Once the work surfaces and the hob are sparkling clean, I start cleaning the sink. This is an area that needs special attention, as food residue can easily accumulate here and plaque builds up. For the sink, I use a special stainless steel cleaner, which not only removes dirt, but also gives the surface a shine. I don't forget about the mixer tap, which I also clean regularly to avoid limescale build-up.

Professional Cleaning

Once the sink is done, I move on to the cabinets and shelves. Periodically, I wipe them inside and out to avoid accumulation of dust and dirt. To do this, I use a soft cloth and a light soapy water solution so as not to damage the coating of the furniture. I pay special attention to avoid leaving fingerprints on the handles and fronts, so after wiping, I additionally clean the surfaces with a dry cloth to remove any smudges.

The kitchen floor needs regular cleaning too, especially after cooking. I use a hoover that both vacuums and cleans the floor at the same time. This is very convenient as the kitchen is a place where crumbs, grease drops or other dirt can appear on the floor. My hoover has a filter that traps the smallest dust particles, which is especially important as I am allergic to dust. To clean the floor, I use warm water with a drop of liquid soap and a little vinegar - this solution copes well with dirt and leaves no marks on the tiles.

Cleaning living rooms takes a lot of time and effort, but it's also very important

Having finished cleaning the kitchen, I move on to the living rooms. I have two of them, the living room and the dining room, and they also need attention. The living room is where we spend a lot of time as a family, so it's important to keep it clean and tidy. I start by dusting the furniture with a soft microfibre cloth and wood polish. I pay special attention to the shelves with books and decorative elements - dust accumulates here very quickly, so I try to wipe each item thoroughly. I also periodically revisit books and mementos to make sure they are dust-free and in good condition.

After the furniture, I move on to cleaning upholstered furniture - sofas and armchairs. I have a special hoover with an attachment for upholstered furniture, which does an excellent job of removing dust and small dirt from the upholstery. Also once a month I arrange a "general" cleaning, using a special upholstery cleaner, which refreshes the fabric and gives it a pleasant fragrance. I wash the cushions and plaids on the sofa regularly so that they are always fresh and clean.

I also clean the floor in the living room and dining room with a hoover. I have laminate flooring in these rooms, so I use special products that not only remove dirt, but also make the surface shine and protect it from wear and tear. I always try not to overwater the floor to avoid damaging it, so I use a minimum amount of water when cleaning. In corners and under furniture, where the hoover can't always reach, I additionally go through with a mop with a microfibre nozzle.

After the living room and dining room, I move on to cleaning the bedroom. This is my favourite place in the house, so I pay special attention to cleanliness and cosiness here. The first thing I do is to make the bed, adjust the pillows and blankets. I change the bed linen once a week, wash it on a high temperature with a mild detergent so that it is always fresh and smells nice.

Next, I dust the surfaces - nightstands, chests of drawers and mirrors. For mirrors, I have a special product that leaves no streaks and makes the glass crystal clear. I also wipe dust off decorative items such as picture frames and candles. Periodically, I air the bedroom so that the room always has fresh air, especially before I go to bed.

It's important not to forget to tidy up the bedroom too and here's what Siobhán does to do that

In the bedroom, I pay special attention to the rug that lies by the bed. It is a place where dust often collects, especially if we walk barefoot. For the carpet I use a powerful hoover with a turbo brush, which deep cleans the pile. I also deep clean the carpet every few months using a steam cleaner - this not only removes dust and dirt, but also refreshes the colour of the carpet.

Having finished the bedroom, I move on to the entrance hall. This is the first thing guests see when they enter the house, so it's important to keep everything in perfect order. The first thing I do is to remove the shoes that are at the entrance, so as not to clutter the space. We have a special cupboard for shoes, where each pair is in its place, so the hallway always looks neat. I also regularly wash the mat by the front door, as it is where most of the street dirt accumulates.

Cleaning the hallway is the final stage of cleaning the flat

I periodically wipe down the walls in the hallway, especially in places where they can get dirty, such as the mirror and coat racks. To do this, I use a soft sponge and a light soap solution so as not to damage the paint. The mirror in the hallway also needs regular cleaning, so I use the same product I use for the bedroom mirror to keep it clean and streak-free.

We have tiles on the floor in the hallway, which I clean with a hoover, just like in the kitchen. I use the same solution of water with soap and vinegar to effectively remove all the dirt. In the corners and under cupboards, I mop to keep the dust down.

This is the end of my daily cleaning routine. Of course, there are always small tasks along the way, such as wiping finger marks on doors or cleaning light fittings, but overall this routine allows me to keep my house clean and tidy. About a year ago I realized that there are many other pleasures in life besides cleaning, and I started to wonder if there were any professional cleaning companies in Kilkenny. That's how I found Magical Cleaning and the wonderful, helpful professionals who clean my flat and now my mother's flat in Waterford to perfection.
